Turyol
Turyol is a Turkish ferry operator specialising in trans-national crossings from Cesme and Ayvalik on the west coast of Turkey to the Greek islands, Chios and Lesvos respectively.
Transporting tens of thousands of passengers each year, and sixty-five percent of people sailing from Ayvalik to Lesvos, Turyol is one of the country’s most well-known and respected ferry companies. It all began at the turn of the twentieth century, when Turyol, under previous names such as Motorists Association and Charter Excursion, established marine transportation services in Istanbul.
Today, with a fleet of sixty ships, all spanning forty-two metres long and running on double engines, Turyol carries a daily average of forty thousand passengers to Lesvos. Moreover, in June 2016, the company introduced the fastest available sailing from Cesme to Chios, using two vessels called Chios and Necdet Ali Yildirim, boasting a total capacity of six hundred and seventy foot passengers and forty vehicles. Each ferry at Turyol’s disposal has been approved by the national maritime audit committees, while also abiding by international safety rules.
