The town of Vis is in the north-eastern part of the Island of Vis, southern Croatia, at the bottom of a well protected bay. Vis Town in the northeast and Komiža in the southwest are the two beautiful small towns on the Island of Vis. The whole island was a military area until the beginning of the war (1991-1995) in Croatia, so the island and its towns have only been open to tourists for the last 15 years.
