Stornoway is the main port on the Isle of Lewis and a popular gateway to the Outer Hebrides from the Scottish mainland. In fact, it has long been an important seaport and boasts excellent docking conditions thanks to the natural harbour’s sheltered location. The terminal building offers excellent facilities including a spacious waiting area with televisions and a cafeteria serving a wide range of refreshments. There is a bus stop situated outside the ferry terminal, while a taxi rank can be found a short walk away. As the primary settlement, Stornoway and its port are easily reachable from all locations on the Isle of Lewis and is served by the A857 from the north, the A858 from the west and the A859 from the south.
