Les Saintes consists of nine islands laying 15 km off the southern coast of Guadeloupe. The two ferry routes operating from Les Saintes are both relatively short and head to other coastal resorts in the Caribbean - Trois Riviere on the coast of Martinique and Saint Francois, also in Guadeloupe. Regarded by some as the most worthwhile island to visit in all of Guadeloupe, Les Saintes is ideal for exploring exotic lands in a warm climate. The impressive Fort Josephine is within walking distance of the ferry port, offering stunning views of each side of the island. Other than the fort, the attractions are somewhat lacking, though the naturally beautiful mountains and luxurious beaches usually provide enough entertainment for an enjoyable couple of days. The incredible views, sunny conditions and tranquil lifestyle make Les Saintes the perfect destination for a romantic getaway. Around the port lies many cafes and restaurants serving delicious, authentic seafood next to the stunning shoreline. The harbour prides itself on presenting a classy, clean look with pristine facilities – there are no tacky gift or souvenir shops in sight. The island is so small that it can easily be covered by foot in a day or two, so the port is accessible from pretty much anywhere. For quick and easy transport, most resorts will be happy to book a taxi for their customers.
