Humen Guide

Humen Ferry Port

Humen is found right on the south east coast of China, laying in the Guangdong Province and is most famous for being the start of the Pearl River. The only ferry connection is to Hong Kong Airport, one of the country’s busiest crossings.

What is there to do in Humen?

A city steeped in history, tradition and culture, Humen remains a hidden gem amid the increased prevalence of major Asian cities. Much like the entirety of China, the city is thriving economically; the input of new business has helped Humen’s growth, yet the port remains the hub of activity with thousands of passengers passing through each day. The harbour may be the busiest part of the city, yet there is much more to see around Humen, especially for those with an interest in history: The Sea Battle Museum and The Opium War Museum are both well worth a visit. The museums are typically top of the itinerary for most visitors, but Jingyuan and Zhenyuan Fort aren’t far behind; the remarkable buildings showcase the architectural history belonging to south east China and are perfect for taking enviable photos. After a day of sightseeing, there are many highly regarded restaurants dotted about, serving delicious fresh sea food.

How do visitors get around Humen?

There is a regular bus service in operation around the city, alternatively there are taxis readily available.
