For visitors planning to travel to Alcúdia by car or motorbike, then you will have to get a ferry which operate daily from Barcelona, Denia and Valencia to Mallorca. During the busy summer months there are additional direct services to Barcelona. The normal journey time is 7 hours but this can be reduced to 3 hours if a Fast-Ferry is taken. It is generally cheaper to travel to the island by ferry than it is to fly.

The city's busy port is also one of the world's natural deep-water ports and extends inland for a couple of miles. A popular attraction in the city is the Museu de Menorca which is the largest museum on the island and contains exhibits that tells the story of the island's archaeological past along with works of fine art. Also popular with tourists is the Xoriguer Gin Distillery which is located on the Moll; de Ponent harbour front and is where it is possible to see the large copper stills used to produce the gin. Also available from the distillery are tickets for tours of the harbour which take around one hour.

Mahon ferry port has year round sailings connecting the city to Barcelona and Valencia on the Spanish mainland. You can also catch ferries to Palma and to Alcudia, Majorca and to Ibiza. Ferries also operate to and from Ciutadella in the summer months.
