The Spanish town of Alcudia is located on the island of Majorca in the Balearic Islands. It is a major centre for tourism on the island and is popular with families. The Old Town has many examples of houses that date back to the 13th century and is surrounded by a medieval wall. The Old Town is around 2 miles from the port. The Port d'Alcudia and Platja d'Alcudia parts of the town, along the 14 km long beach that runs all the way to Can Picafort, is where most of the hotels can be found.

For visitors planning to travel to Alcúdia by car or motorbike, then you will have to get a ferry which operate daily from Barcelona, Denia and Valencia to Mallorca. During the busy summer months there are additional direct services to Barcelona. The normal journey time is 7 hours but this can be reduced to 3 hours if a Fast-Ferry is taken. It is generally cheaper to travel to the island by ferry than it is to fly.


Mahon Guide

The capital of the Spanish island of Majorca is Mahon and is a mix of old and new buildings and is popular with tourists. Although it is a Spanish city there are also strong Menorcan influences which is reflected in the city's museums. The city's busy port is also one of the world's natural deep-water ports and extends inland for a couple of miles. A popular attraction in the city is the Museu de Menorca which is the largest museum on the island and contains exhibits that tells the story of the island's archaeological past along with works of fine art. Also popular with tourists is the Xoriguer Gin Distillery which is located on the Moll; de Ponent harbour front and is where it is possible to see the large copper stills used to produce the gin. Also available from the distillery are tickets for tours of the harbour which take around one hour.

Mahon ferry port has year round sailings connecting the city to Barcelona and Valencia on the Spanish mainland. You can also catch ferries to Palma and to Alcudia, Majorca and to Ibiza. Ferries also operate to and from Ciutadella in the summer months.
