About Lianyungang City

Lianyungang is a prefecture-level city on the east coast of China, falling within north-eastern Jiangsu province.

A transportation hub today, archaeological findings in Lianyungang City have dated its human history back to the New Stone Age. Facing the Korean peninsula, this mountainous port city has a population of almost five million and a warm climate all year round, offering great tourist attractions whatever the season. Some of its best features include long, sandy beaches, flower-clad hills during spring and vitalising, natural hot springs, best enjoyed in the winter months. Interestingly, Lianyungan City’s Huaguo Mountain earned national stardom from the 16th Century epic novel ‘Journey to West’, which described a legendary Monkey King residing behind its waterfall.

Ferries make the long-haul journey across the Yellow Sea from the South Korean city of Incheon, on the west coast, to Lianyungang City a couple of times a week.
